Verdammt dann brauche ich ja auch noch eine PS Eye. Das Feature ist bis jetzt total an mir vorbei gegangen.
- Over 800 of the cars will be “standard”, the majority of which have been brought from previous GT titles. Despite the nomenclature, they still look great – all of the classic “muscle cars” we saw in the latest batch of screenshots are all “standard”. However, according to the article, standard cars “won’t have interiors”.
- There are 200 “premium” cars which “take the final count past the 1000 mark”. In addition to highly detailed interiors, the undersides of the cars have also been modeled and will be visible when the car is flipping through the air thanks to the new physics engine.
- There will be 9 NASCAR models available, and you will be able to race by NASCAR’s specific rules. The article describes the NASCAR crashes as “truly epic” yet still “artful in Yamacuhi’s universe”.
- Each individual circuit can take as long as two and a half years to build.
- The new Photo Travel mode – where you take a car to a picturesque location other than a race track – now allows you to virtually walk around the environment to help you get the best angle.
- Online community features include a “BBS, personal logs, mail, and something called My Lounge”. You will be able to monitor your friend’s progress, set up private races with them, and spectate on live online races that are already underway from any camera angle, while focusing on any player’s car that you want.
- The combination of 3D visuals and head-tracking with the PS Eye was described as “astonishing”.
Wow, 9 Nascar-Models
http://www.gameplanet.co.nz/playstation/games/159555/previews/135103.Gran-Turismo-5/The effusively polite CEO of Polyphony Digital, Kazunori Yamauchi, insists: He should’ve made Gran Turismo 5 for the PlayStation 4.
Gran Turismo 5 will be revealed in full detail at GamesCom in August. But that doesn’t mean Polyphony didn’t show up at E3 with a raft of details to share with incredibly patient fans who’ve been waiting a long time for the Sony exclusive.
In a small private room, Kazunori shared those details with us.
There are over 1,000 cars in Gran Turismo, more than 800 standard cars and over 200 premium cars. These include the vast majority of cars in all previous Gran Turismo games, including GT for the PSP.
All cars include physics-based damage modelling and will suffer from body scratches, dents and dirt.
Premium cars have been designed in absolutely painstaking detail: In addition to the standard damage modelling and exterior deterioration, these cars have been built so that they can come apart panel by panel. Their interiors can be navigated. Due to the inclusion of rolling physics, the undersides of all premium cars have also been lovingly replicated. It’s here that Kazunori insists that he’s found the PS3’s limitations.
Nascar is a significant E3 demo feature. It includes nine cars on the showroom floor, with more being prepared for the game’s full release.
In the world of racing, “Nascar rules are as different as football and American football,” Kazunori explains via his translator. Gran Turismo replicates Nascar’s rules precisely.
A series of new tracks have been unveiled today. Madrid took Polyphony two years to make. It recreates central Madrid in detail (expect to hear that phrase often). Toscana is a dirt track. Rome Circuit returns from GT3, but its layout is completely different. Top Gear fans will be happy to know that the show’s test circuit is also recreated. Kazunori notes that its wide, flat nature makes it very difficult to drive and that its intersections make collisions a very real possibility. Le Mans Sarthe, the latest 2009 layout, is here. Nurburgring was built from scratch to represent a 24-hour race. It is a complete replication, including all the existing road surface graffiti, sans profanity.
GT4’s photo mode returns, including photo race and photo travel. Three scenes have been introduced at E3, Tokyo, Japan; San Galgano, Italy; Red Bull hangar, Austria.
We took a look at Gion, Tokyo and the abbey of San Galgano. As you’re queuing your photo, scrolling text across the bottom of the screen provides information on the location.
Gran Turismo 5 finally has a complete online system. Polyphony were especially eager to share details about My Lounge, a “living room” lobby where you can meet with friends, race, enter spectator mode, chat with friends or free run. Every user will have their own lounge where you can visit them.
Gran Turismo 5 is available in stereoscopic 3D and includes a face-tracker that will allow you to glance at wing mirrors and so on. Both of these features are optional and can be used separately.
A day/night cycle has been announced and is best demonstrated on the new Toscana track.
Also announced is a raft of enhanced effects. High and low beams have been added for night driving. Smoke illumination is in and working (headlights and tail light illuminate dust and other particles). Collision sparks are here. Kicking up debris such as grass and pebbles is functioning.
