Bei der Gelegenheit muß ich mal wieder meine Schmalsprukonsole entstauben und das Original zocken.
Nunchaku Controller Feature Revealed
April 25, 2006
by: Phillip Levin
CONFIRMED: Sources close to Nintendo confirm for AMN that the rumors are true. Details inside.
Last week, a rumor hit the net claiming that the Nintendo Revolution’s nunchaku controller features a built-in accelerator allowing it to sense it being tilted left or right, or being moved up, down, left, right and in a number of other directions as well.
Today, AMN has confirmed through a developer incredibly close to Nintendo that this rumor is in fact true. The nunchaku peripheral does feature this secondary function. However, we were also told that the nunchaku controller does not feature the same pointing and motion sensing abilities that allow the Revolution free-hand controller to be used like a “pointer” or “wand.”
One example we’ve come up to describe how this function will be useful in future software involves a first-person shooter, in which you use the free-hand controller to look around and aim, while you use the nunchaku controllers analog stick to move around and strafe. Most importantly, you’d be able to tilt the nunchaku controller to the left or right to reload your weapon.
More intriguing than all this, perhaps, our source told us that this “feature” of the nunchaku controller has been in their development kits since they first received them over six months ago. This raises the question, of course, is this the second big secret function of the Revolution controller? It could be. However, it’s odd that developers have had access to the feature and information all along, without ever being told to keep the information under wraps.
Nintendo Revolution will be in full playable form during the Electronic Entertainment Expo., which kicks off May 9, 2006 with Nintendo’s annual press briefing. AMN will be on hand at the event with full coverage.
1: “The Tony Hawk Revolution” IS CONFIRMED. (It was on a single page instead of the two page preview, our apologies). It is Activision’s first title for the coming Revolution. Title is called “Tony Hawk: Downhill Jam”. “Screenshot” is only concept art.
2: Bob Ross Revolution game is pretty much confirmed by Nintendo Power.
3: A picture is shown of the fan who stood out at GDC with the Iwata drops Bomb sign, Nintendo Power comments with “A Nintendo superfan displays his excitement at GDC. He’ll have to wait until E3 for the real bomb to drop.”
4: SpongeBob Squarepants confirmed and its entitled “SpongeBob Squarepants: Creature from the Krusty Krab” Screenshots are shown however they are for the Gamecube Version only.
5: An SNES vs. SEGA skit debate was done. Its interesting but was there to give an idea to fans how the console wars was back then. Many games were mentioned such as Revenge of Shinobi or A Link to the Past. I expect many of these games mentioned to be on Revolution’s Virtual Console.
6: IGA, producer of the Castlevania series was asked about doing a Castlevania title for Revolution, the following was his response: “I can’t say that I’m working on Revolution. I’m really busy with the DS game right now. I really like the controller, thought, so if time allows and if Revolution is well-received, then I would love to work on it.”
7: Nintendo Power interviews Yoot Saito, creator of Odama and asked about Revolution and how he might use the Revolution controller, the following is his response: “Oh, yes, I have many things to say about this. But I just can’t comment right now. You know: confidentiality agreements and all. But wait for my next title. I swear that I’ll create something that you’re going to like. And I look forward to sitting down with you to discuss it at length when the time comes!
8: A Kid Icarus NES review was given. Regarding the games future all it mentions is “Until Pit makes his triumphant return one day, Kid Icarus will live on in the hearts of old-school gamers, who may, at least, revisit Angel Land of Revolution’s virtual console.”
9: A really small section in the Review area has a question for NP Reviewers about what they are looking forward to seeing at E3, the following are Revolution related responses:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Comments:
Chris Hoffman: Last year, Mr. Miyamoto announced he was working on a brand-new property for Revolution. Hopefully it’ll be at this year’s show. I also hope that Capcom debuts its Phoenix Write sequel.
Steven Grimm: I can’t wait to indulge in all things Revolution, but I’m really hoping to see the Donkey Kong concept that’s in the works. Nintedo tapped DK for the brilliant jungle Beat; what might DK do next?
Andy Myers: At DICE, we heard Miyamoto mention “another secret” regarding the Revolution controller. More than seeing the new Mario or Smash Bros. games, I want to know what that secret is.
Steve Thomason: …I want to get my hands on Mario for Revolution more than anhything else.

The cover will have Zelda DS.
11: In the “Don’t-Miss Calendar” section it states “Though May doesn’t have a ton of games in store, it’ll still be a megaton month: the New Super Mario Bros. game shakes up the present while E3 shakes up the future.”
12: Tony Hawk: Downhill Jam details for Revolution: The game is an exclusive for Nintendo Revolution and DS. It states “…By using the Revolution controller’s motion-sensitivity, racers will be able to turn and boost without touching a button.
