I've done enough blabbering and hairsplitting. Is the Elder Scrolls IV worth a purchase? Definitely. Currently, it's as good as gaming gets on the Xbox 360. If you're an RPG fan, it's an incredible experience. If you regularly beat RPG fans with hockey sticks, you should still try this one out. It's got combat issues, the hotkey system could have been implemented better and some may be ticked off by the environmental loading stutters. However, none of those criticisms hold back Oblivion from being a thoroughly enjoyable, user-friendly, gorgeous experience with enough content to keep you returning time and time again.
9.5 Presentation
Top notch storytelling, easy to navigate menus, and a wonderful upgrade to your map and journal are offset only by an inadequate hotkey system.
9.0 Graphics
The best on the Xbox 360. It's too bad the outdoor loads cause the game to hiccup, and background textures look less than stellar.
9.0 Sound
Aside from a few glitches, voices, music, battle sounds and enemy screams are a treat for the ears.
9.0 Gameplay
As fun as this game is to play, the combat system remains somewhat imprecise. Still, there's so much to do and so many ways to do it, you'll forgive its flaws.
9.5 Lasting Appeal
The game is huge, with enough content to last an incalculable amount of time. As deep as single player gaming gets.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is simply one of the best role-playing games ever made.
The Good:
Huge, lavishly detailed world offers tremendous amount of action and adventure; main mechanics like combat, stealth, and magic are fun and well designed; impressive artificial intelligence and hundreds of believable characters; outstanding symphonic score, as well as excellent voice acting and sound effects; tremendous replay value, plus gorgeous graphics to make it easy on the eyes.
The Bad:
Frequent though fairly brief loading times; you might run into some technical issues with performance.
