Well, pleasingly - and as expected as this is a remake - the upcoming Wii U release is running at a native 1080p, as confirmed by Digital Foundry. That's actually relatively rare on the Wii U; for example Super Mario 3D World runs at a native 720p but upscales to 1080p, and a lot of titles on the system do that. Twilight Princess HD joins a relatively elite club, then, with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U being another title notable for its native 1080p output.
The framerate, though, is locked at 30fps (unlike the brawling title in which the main play is 60fps, while backgrounds and assist characters are 30fps). That's the same as The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, though in our opinion Twilight Princess HD is a more solid performer throughout the adventure. Digital Foundry pinpoints some minor drops, but for the most part we reckon the new remaster hits its mark more consistently than the Wii U's other HD Zelda title.
