Namco showed off a teaser trailer for Soul Calibur IV, the latest entry in its long-running weapon-based fighting series. The gameplay-light trailer featured a smattering of provocative text to tease the game's story, which appears to involve both the Soul Edge (seen in the original arcade game and its PlayStation conversion) and the Soul Calibur, the other powerful sword that's appeared in the series. The highlight of the short trailer was what appeared to be a trio of in-game character models for returning characters Ivy, Mitsurugi, and Nightmare. The text in the trailer hinted at an epic conflict that will find the fighters from the series facing off against evil, pugilistic forces. Beyond that, the only big news from the trailer is the game's 2008 release on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Because the trailer was short, our brief glimpse at the character models didn't offer much that hinted at gameplay, but we can say the characters looked shiny and quite upgraded from the PlayStation 2 game. Mitsurugi was sporting his familiar uniform and hairstyle, although they were much more detailed. Though Mitsurugi looked good, Ivy was the standout with her considerable assets being on ample display from various angles. For those concerned that the white-haired fighter was looking a little mannish in the recent entries of the series, she appears to be all femme and curvy, thanks to the detail provided by the new generation of consoles. One of the notable touches to the models was the level of detail on the clothing and accessories on the fighters. Ivy, in particular, was rocking some detailed stockings and accessories. Nightmare wasn't quite as provocative, but he looked like quite the bad a** with his buff and demonic elements given a high level of detail.

The trailer didn't give us much to go by, but a release from Namco Bandai promised we can expect both returning and new characters, as well as a battle system with which they will fight it out. The release also offered the existence of interactive arenas and new gameplay modes in the new game, but it did not elaborate on those features. Outside of these details, there's not much to say about Soul Calibur IV until Namco Bandai releases more information in the coming months.

Schön detaillierte Charaktere, vor allem Voldo kommt die Next Gen Power zu Gute. Nachdem ich den Dreier ausgelassen habe, werde ich mir Nummer vier wohl mal wieder zu Gemüte führen, imo ist die Soul Calibur Serie immer noch die Beste
 
die charaktere sehen gut aus, insbesondere die haare gefallen mir, müssen jetzt nurnoch adequat animiert sein, die umgebungen wirken dagegen noch ziemlich belanglos... was haben japanische entwickler bloß gegen grafik-shader...
 
NEEEEIN! ICh will Vader auf meiner 360 =( Der ist viel cooler als der kleine grüne Gnom... man, sicher wegen den Farben (Yoda = Grün = 360 und Vader = Schwarz = PS3)
 
Naja, Star Wars und Soul Calibur passt nicht wirklich. Aber ist ja ganz lustig, und die Charaktermodelle sehen geil aus. Vader ist natürlich um ein Vielfaches geiler als Yoda.

Sieht geil aus. Hat das Teil HDR? Scheint so.
Könnte mein nächstes Beat em up werden. Hab seit TTT und Tecken auf PSP keines mehr gekauft. Letzteres habe ich sogar geschenkt bekommen. Muss dann nur noch ein zweiter Controller her.
Find die Atle mit dem ausfahrbaren Schwert geil.:D Weiss garnicht mehr wie die heisst. Ist auf dem dritten Bild zu sehen.
Yoda sieht aber bestimmt sehr lustig aus wenn er sich so bewegt wie im Film. Erst rumhumpeln und dann rumhüpfen wie eine Heuschrecke.:D

Vll. kann man DV später über LIVE runterladen.

Day One. Allerdings finde ich es beknackt, dass sie nicht beide im gleichen Spiel unterbringen...ziemlich blöd.
 
Wann kommt denn das? Das wird seit langem wieder ein Vollpreisgame (Omega Five rockt sowieso) :)

Online? Auch PS3 und Xbox übergreifend? Das wäre doch mal Top!
 
sieht wirklich überraschend gut aus. könnte mal wieder ein beat em up werden das ich mir zulege.

doof nur das wieder mal die gäste chars auf verschieden systeme aufgeteilt werden. ich hätte lieber yoda, aber wegen des digi kreuzes werde ich mir wohl die ps3 version kaufen und muss dann mit vader vorlieb nehmen :(

hatte sophitia schon immer so dicke dinger? :D

wäre schon cool. Warum auch nicht? Daß es auf Grund der beiden verschiedenen Online Strategien nicht klappen wird, ist fast klar. Ich fände es trotzdem spaßig :)
