Once upon a time, Cerberus obtained the body of Commander Shepard. Unfortunately for them, Shepard had landed amongst a tribe of Space Apes, who had proceeded to pelt his corpse with their Space Poop. They threw his body into a deep chasm, where it squished an unfortunate creature named Gollum.

During their reconstruction, Cerberus accidently contaminated Shepards DNA with the DNA of the other two entities. And so began the story of...

Neuer DLC.

BioWare hat angekündigt heute im Laufe des Tages den nächsten Downloadinhalt für Mass Effect 2 bekannt zu geben. Es ist davon auszugehen, dass es sich dabei um einen Story-DLC handeln wird - da dies von Christina Norman ja schon quasi angekündigt wurde.

Die Kollegen von PCGames.de haben sogar schon neue Screenshots daraus veröffentlicht:

UPDATE: Die Seite GamerZines hat neue Infos zum DLC von EA. Er wird Overlord heißen und nächsten Monat erscheinen. Es gibt fünf Missionen rund um eine böse KI, die auf einem Planeten stattfinden und weniger linear sein sollen als vorherige DLC-Missionen. Der Hammerhead wird ebenfalls benutzbar sein. Weitere Infos gibt es, sobald die Pressemeldung von EA/BioWare veröffentlicht wurde.

UPDATE 2: Nun hat auch BioWare den neuen DLC mit dem Titel Overlord angekündigt. Er wird für PC und Xbox 360 erscheinen und 560 BioWare- bzw. MS-Points kosten. Einen genauen Termin wann er im Juni erscheinen soll gibt es noch nicht. Bei GameSpot gibt es bereits eine Vorschau, die allerdings Spoiler enthält.

BioWare’s Casey Hudson has said that the development team plans to release a” constant stream” of DLC that will bridge the story between Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3.

Speaking in an interview with VideoGamer, Hudson said that ” a bunch” of content is currently in the works, but as far as Mass Effect 3 was concerned, it will be “quite a few months” before the firm is ready to discuss it.
“We have a bunch of packs that are in the works right now,” he said. “So, for the time being there’s going to be a continued stream of DLC for people.
“We’ll start to have packs that’ll tell the story between Mass Effect 2 and 3. But beyond that we kind of have to see how people are responding to what we have and go from there.
“It probably won’t be for quite a few months that we talk about Mass Effect 3″.
The second piece of DLC for Mass Effect 2, Overlord, is slated for release next month.

Overlord DLC ist online, hab schon mal die ersten zwei Missionen gespielt und die sind echt klasse gemacht. Definitiv der beste DLC für ME2 bis jetzt (was auch nicht sonderlich schwer ist ;) ) und imo gehen die 560 Points da auch in Ordnung, zumindest wenn die Qualität weiterhin so passt. Mal schauen was noch kommt und wie lange es dauert.
 
Danke fuer den Eindruck. Ich werd erstmal abwarten bis Du damit durch bist. Der letzte DLC war imho rausgeschmissenes Geld.
 
Danke für deine Eindrücke. Ich werde ebenfalls erst mal abwarten wie die Story erzählt wird und ob dort überhaupt Dialoge vorkommen.
 
So, hab ihn durch. Auf der Uhr sind es 2 Stunden, das kommt dann wohl auch ungefähr mit der eigentlichen Spielzeit gut hin. Ob das für 560 MS Points zu wenig ist, muss dann wohl eh jeder selbst entscheiden. Aber dafür hat die Qualität gepasst und es waren ein paar sehr coole, abwechslungsreiche Missionenen dabei.
Der DLC erinnert mich am meisten an den Nebenhandlungsstrang Jarathe Station (jene Missionenen, wo eine KI einige Mechs manipuliert) und ich finde, dass die Story des DLC wirklich sehr gut ist, und auch ziemlich interessant. Plus ein ziemlich tolles Finale, das mich etwas an System Shock 2 erinnert hat. :)
Die Atmosphäre innerhalb der Missionen ist creepy. ME2 ist zwar zu steif um wirklich an ein Horrorspiel wie Dead Space ranzukommen, aber die Levels sind schon gut designt und da kommt Atmosphäre auf. Der Hammerhead wird im Vergleich zum Firewalker DLC um einiges besser eingesetzt. So gibt es ein paar mehr oder weniger knifflige Sprungpassagen und zwischen den Missionen (vier sinds an der Zahl übrigens) düst man bisschen rum, kann Cerberus Pakete aufsammeln und sechsbeinige Mischungen aus Reh und Kuh überfahren und wegsprengen.
Zu den Dialogen: Die sind eigentlich recht gut, aber sonderlich viel gibts nicht. Zwei etwas längere Dialoge und sonst gibts immer wieder Funknachrichten, auf die man halt nicht antwortet. Der Text ist gut geschrieben und vertont, auch wenn Shepards Teil etwas 0815 ausfällt, hatte zuerst das Gefühl, die verwenden da jetzt einfach nur Samples aus ME2 dafür. ;) Squad-Interaktion gibts übrigens gar keine.
Für den Fortverlauf der Haupthandlung oder der Charaktere ist der DLC aber nicht wichtig, die storyrelevanten DLCs sollen jedenfalls kommen. Die dürfen dann qualitativ gern auf dem Niveau vom Overlord sein, allerdings bitte dann etwas länger.

Fazit: 2 Stunden, 2 Achievements, einige sehr geile Spielszenen und ein wirklich cooles Video schon relativ am Anfang (erinnert an das ME1-Finale) und ja. Hat es sich gelohnt? Ja, würd ich schon sagen, hat Spaß gemacht. Es lohnt sich der Kauf vor allem für Leute die Jarathe Station in ME2 (so wie ich) schon toll fanden.

Büdde, büdde. Achja, der Hammerhead ist scheinbar immer noch aus Pappmaché, musste mich echt einige Male zurückziehen, trotz fleißigem Ausweich-Manövern und so, aber whatever...
 
Schliesse mich [P]rimär an. Schoene DLC Mission mit wirklich tollem Ende. Speziell optisch. Allerdings haette ich auf die Mario-Huepf Passagen wirklich verzichten koennen. Lohnt sich.
 
Nach dem sehr guten Overlord DLC wurde der nächste angekündigt und es ist nicht wenig überraschend ein DLC rund um Liara und den Shadow Broker.

Two years ago, Commander Shepard died and Liara T’Soni fought in a desperate struggle against the Shadow Broker to recover her former Commander. Now that Shepard is back, it’s time to even the score and team up with Liara to confront the mysterious and sinister Shadow Broker in the latest expansion to Mass Effect 2.

gamescom interview: Ray BioWare confirms intro content for ME2 PS3, included DLC, more

“One of the things we’re doing is that we’re bringing a lot of the post-release downloadable content and will integrate it into the experience, so that PS3 fans can check that out and play it,” he said.

While confirming the inclusion of an introductory segment for the PS3 SKU, Muzyka was cagey on specifics, refusing to confirm whether or not new gameplay is to be included over the 360 and PS3 version.

“We’re making sure there’s a really seamless introduction to the world of Mass Effect, for players that haven’t experienced it before,” he said.

“So even though it’s Mass Effect 2 specifically, we’re making sured there’s a nice introduction experience, that provides the back-story and the things that have happened up to that point in the universe, and makes it a really seamless introduction.”
