In der neuen Playzone gibt es auch schon einen Test der PS3-Version. Allerdings noch ohne Wertung, weil der Multiplayer in der vorliegenden Version komplett fehlte. Wenn man aber die Einschätzung nimmt, werden das mindestens 90%.

Darstellung: Fast konstante 30 Bilder pro Sekunde. Seltene und geringfügige Slowdowns.

Soundeffekte: Die englischen Sprecher sind hervorragend. Auch Effekte und die witzigen Sprüche der Darklings sorgen für Atmosphäre.

Musik: Die eher ruhigen, atmosphärischen Klänge werden während Kampfsequenzen von krachendem Metal abgelöst.

High production values means The Darkness is at times almost movie-like. No visible interface is a nice touch too.

It looks state-of-the art, but not quite as gory as you might imagine - apart from the heart-devouring, that is.

7.5 Sound
Yadda-yadda New Yoik accents can grate a bit, but the hilariously over-the-top voice of The Darkness adds to the atmosphere.

8.5 Gameplay
The controls are somewhat unwieldy at first but not so much as they break the game. Darkness powers provide a fresh angle on a tired genre.

8.0 Lasting Appeal
You could probably tear though it in a couple of days, plus multiplayer adds longevity.

also nen bekannter hat wohl von der grotte ne mail bekommen dass es sich mit der at erledigt hat weil es nazi symbole im spiel gibt und marc das spiel wohl deshalb nicht verkaufen darf. find ich mal wieder total scheiße. die deutsche version lohnt sich doch bestimmt gar nicht zu kaufen.
ist ja auch so schlimm. oh hilfe ich hab nen hakenkreuz gesehen, jetzt bekomm ich ne psychische macke...

Hm, das sieht doch ganz lustig aus, nur frage ich mich, warum in den "Zwischensequenzen" in die dritte Person schaltet. Ziemlich inkonsequent, wenn man sich so das Intro anschaut. Wirkt auch irgendwie komisch (u.a. wegen den starren Gesichtern und Lippen).

The Darkness' strength is in its packaging. The menus are slick, the cut-scenes are stylish, and the atmosphere is perfectly moody.

8.0 Graphics

Some nice effects and a solid framerate are a plus. The Otherworld is particularly cool. The animations in general are weak, though.

8.5 Sound

This is some of the best voice acting on 360 to date. The sound effects and music are fairly average by comparison.

7.5 Gameplay

It's fun to kick ass and take names. It would be nice if the AI and enemies matched the slick presentation.

7.5 Lasting Appeal

The campaign will take 8-10 hours. The multiplayer won't keep you playing much longer than that.

Closing Comments
The Darkness is a wonderfully gruesome adventure. There are some truly dark and even shocking moments in the story. There's a twist at the end of the first chapter that shook me a bit. And though the story does lose its way and makes little sense towards the end, it's still a fun ride. It's too bad that the AI and gameplay mechanics couldn't be smoothed out a bit more to match the impressive visual presentation. There's a lot to like about The Darkness, even if it doesn't fully come together in the end. With so few gaming options in the summer, this is certainly a title worth buying. Just don't expect a revolutionary experience.
